I tried Swedish Death Cleaning and I’ll do it again – here’s why

Like many others, sometimes I find that I have made my home and avoid working longer than I should (which of course allows more messages). That is why I am all ears every time, I learn about the new method of decluthing to see if I help me break through my disposal.

I recently heard of Swedish Death Cleaning, Cleaning Trend from Margaret Magnussen’s book “, gentle art of Swedish cleaning death: how to break free and family from life mess.” The method follows the Swedish cultural tradition of falling apart and organizing one’s life before passing.

I was initially skeptical about how that method of declaration would work in my own home, especially since I (I hope) nowhere near death, so I asked Christina Morton Desauguste, about her thoughts.

“I think Swedish death is a great exercise … It helps you judge and care to prevent things from your hands out of hand,” Desauguste said.

With that conviction from the organization pro, I decided to try Swedish to clean death by rejecting my fenders.

Before

While our mud room was not a terribly rebellion, she must have been edited for a little. Reusable bags everywhere were lively, and the top of our coat organizer became unaccountable – every place for things needed to find a true home.

Process

I first started by removing the item out of the room and then deciding to be worth keeping if members of my families or they disappeared. Although it sounds like a difficult endeavor, it was actually the opposite.

Advice

Desauguste recommends the first collection of all kinds of items together before he decides what to donate or throw. For example, collecting all coats into one bunch, then toughing your list.

All as a whole, I was surprised how this way was considered more willing to throw me or find a way to donate items. I threw worn shoes and hole coats and started a bunch for gently worn items that could be donated. I also found tons of bags for food products and mercilessly neighbors my collection just a few sacks.

After I created my piles of throwing, keep and donate, I estimated whether the muddy room was the right room for them. For example, I had a new cassel container in a box that was unpacked and put off in my kitchen. I also removed the great memory totes filled with the winter boots of my family and decided that I could live in our residue until the next winter season.

Afterwards

My blatnik is a lot of boylie and organized after I go through our things. Our things don’t feel so packed as before, which makes the space feel more welcome and calm. We even have an empty space in our organizer of the closet, which gives me a little soul of peace while buying clothes and shoes for our growing child.

One important thing by Desauguste pointed out and noticed as I passed through the practice is that Swedish death was primarily focused on the couraged aspect of the declaration process. It helps you choose which items should remain or go, but there are more that enters decluthing than brings these decisions.

“I’m a Swedish Death Cleaning will not mean that you are organized or neatly when you finish! You have to go through a complete organizing process,” says Desauguste.

For example, I spent a lot of time deciding on how objects should be organized or if the muddy room is a real place for them. If I had stopped after I determine which items should remain, the room would still feel chaotic.

Final thoughts

This method forced me to think about my belongings in a less emotional way, since I imagined what would happen to my things that I was no longer here. Although it sounds morbid in the beginning, the more mother fact that caressing is released and helped me easily decide whether the items should be left or being thrown or donated.

“When you’re not surrounded by a mess or things that are just” nice to have “, you can really appreciate the things you do and brings the value to your life,” says Desauguste.

Desauguste is right. Now that my room is relieved and organized, I feel less emphasized when I enter the room. I will definitely try Swedish cleansing death in other areas of my home. I think it would be especially useful to organize financial documents or nostalgic items. These areas are next on my list!
