Start by insurance the drainage line is clear and tilting the alternate unit enough so that the water simply does not accumulate in the arrest.
“When you turn off AC, run it in the fan mode 15 minutes to dry remaining moisture,” says Omer Flores, HVAC Technician and Executive Director of American Ac & Heating. “Also, avoid setting up a unit at very low temperatures for a long period of time, as this can lead to redundant condensation.”

Clean the filter
The filter is designed to capture dust, dirt, molds and other debris, but the filter is not smoked on both the debris quickly, so it should be cleaned regularly to prevent mold growth and smell.
“If you smell the smell, turn off the unit and disassemble the front cover,” says Kevin Goude, HVAC projektar and the owner of the first choice. “Then remove and clean the filter with warm, soap (or even better in enzymatic cleaning, because it digests organic gunk).”
Review and clean the drain and drain line
The drainage pan is intended to catch any condensation and moisture that the air conditioner produce. Once it falls into the drain bowl, then the drain line should be bumped, so the moisture is not accumulated in the unit base.
But if the drainage line is clogged or the drainage container does not tilt in an appropriate way, then it could prevent moisture from drying.
“To release the smell, turn off and unplug, remove the front cover and thoroughly clean the filter, coils and drainage container with warm soap or a joint of water and white vinegar,” Flores and white vinegar. “Use a soft brush or fin curvature cleaner and a pipe cleaner or compressed air to clean the drain.”
Clean the evaporator coils
Evaporator coils can also be a mold growth source, because they often accumulate condensation during regular use, making these coils an ideal place for mold and mold for growth.
To get rid of existing rust of smells and prevent these fragrances from repeating, they should be cleaned regularly.
“Spray coils with a coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled and clean debris in the drainage opening,” Goude says. “Use the toothbrush to eject the evaporator and then fog with Hvac-safe mold killer (not vinegar, which does not kill slowly). After cleaning the unit to dried over the fan in the unit before it smokes.”
Proper winter and keep the window alternating unit properly
Mold and molds can even be built inside the AC unit when it is in the winter, so it is easy to slide it in the closet, basement or garage, it is important to ensure that the unit is completely dried, cleaning in the open space properly.
“At least once in the season, remove the lid and clean the inner coils and drainage pan,” Flores says. “Check that the drain holes are blocked, and out of the unit is not covered with leaves or debris,” Flores says.
Replace the window alternating unit
The most extreme method of releasing the permanent odor from the window is to replace the entire unit. But this will not prevent the new unit from developing the same scent of sustupation if you do not take care of it properly.
Goude notes that it is generally the “smell of the hill”, not a death penalty. But if you tried deep cleaning and still stinks within a week, “Gouda says,” Goude says.
It could be a sign that they are mold and mold in the parts of AC who can’t reach yourself, Goude explains, which could be a sign that it should be replaced.
