Pests are never welcome in our homes, but there is something special disturbing about silver fish. These small, reckless insects are not dangerous, but they are somehow gross and can be destructive.

In an effort to understand how to maintain these jerks on the bay – or settle them if they have already been invasions – we checked with several professionals to find out their top tips.

What are silver fish?

According to the Entomologists Emma Grace Crumbley, silver fish are small, flat insects are usually located around the world, and is reached in length of about 1.5 mm long to 25 mm longer.

“They are known for the flat bodies and three cerci – attachments to similar tails protruding from the back of the abdomen,” Crumbley says.

Are silver fish dangerous?

Let’s start with the most important question. Do these pests represent threats to our health?

Good news are not without silver fish are not dangerous for people at all. But as expert expires for pests, I can still cause harm.

“They represent a risk for your paper items, such as cardboard, wall paper and important documents,” Dolshun says.

Why do you have a silver fish

According to Dolshun, silver fish attract wet, wet surfaces such as wet bathrooms and wet cellars. Rashy agrees, notificing that they also prefer darkness and thus what makes them most often found in any spaces that are colder, hold moisture and can be smoothly for a long time.

Get a distraction

According to Dolshun, your best first step is an investment in the dehumidifier.

“This is essentially a cut off main attraction for a silver fish,” he says.

If the silver fish is constant, or a big, problem, moisture levels are definitely something you need to track movement forward – especially in the warehouse.

Remove all potential food sources

If you already have signs of infection, it could be time to remove. You will need to solve any books, paper or cardboard boxes.

“You need to take care of the moist environments and cut off potential food sources before any spray can be really effective,” he says. “This is going to end with them.”

Prevent future infections

Once you have cleaned any existing silver fish – or even if you worry about an exhilaration in the future – Dolshun suggests a stepping step to prevent their future friends from being beaten.

“Sealing gaps around Belabora, openings, especially water line will be crucial here,” he says.
