Fly buzzing around are common inconvenience when the weather becomes warm. Many turn to domestic methods to keep flies in the bay, like a hanging bag of water with foam. It is considered that this method is confused to fly due to thinking caused by sun, water and copper coins – but does it?

We talked to the pest control expert to find out and get additional advice on how to keep flies.

Does the penny in the water don’t actually keep flies?

The short answer is no, according to the entomologist Emma Grace Crumbley.

“There is insufficient evidence suggesting that this is an effective preventative flight control method,” Crumbley says.

If nothing else, it can even do the opposite by attracting flies into the water.

“Condensation on the bag can attract … flies, and girls from the bag can create new areas of moisture for flies (for drinks),” Crumbley says.

Use Citronel

Whether you have a citronel that grows in your garden or in the form of a candle, it is an effective scent of deterrent from summons and other insects. Citronella is also in many errors for errors.
